Why Your CVS Photo Promo Code Isn't Working

First: the minimum spend

The most common cause is simply that your basket hasn't reached the code's minimum. A $10-off-$50 code does nothing at $47. Before anything else, check the card for a required spend and, if you're close, add one more print pack or a small gift to clear it.

This single check resolves a surprising share of 'it won't work' messages.

Second: excluded or clearance items

Many codes apply to full-price items only and quietly skip clearance or sale designs. If your basket mixes both, the code may apply to some items and appear to fail on the total.

Pull the clearance items into a separate order, or accept that the code only touches the full-price portion — which is exactly what the card's conditions were telling you.

Third: a product-locked code

Some codes are tied to one product — prints only, canvas only, cards only. Paste a canvas code onto an order of 4x6s and it won't take, even though the code is perfectly live.

Re-read the card. If it names a product, make sure that product is actually in your basket at full price.

Fourth: expired or capped

Photo offers rotate fast, and some carry redemption caps. A code that worked last week may have lapsed, or you may have already used a one-per-account offer.

Check the last-verified timestamp on the card here, and reach for a higher-scoring code if the one you tried has aged out.

Fifth: a copy-paste slip

The quiet culprit: a stray space, a missing character, or the wrong case picked up while copying. Codes are usually case-sensitive and space-sensitive.

Delete what's in the box, re-copy the code cleanly from the card, and paste it fresh. This fixes more 'broken' codes than people expect.
